Hawaiian Born, Northern raised and Southern fried, Kenny Keawekane has been performing, teaching, and choreographing professionally for the past 8 years. He comes from a long line of Hawaiian musicians and performers. Jack of all trades, master of none, he is constantly striving to be a better performer/artist, engulfing himself in other types and styles of venues and dance, learning what he can from music editing, videography, costume and prop design, and technical and stage direction. He loves all forms of art and creativity and loves to collaborate with other artists or styles of art and dance. Self-taught, he was a closet dancer from ages 10 – 19 learning everything from dance movies, music videos, and YouTube. He was eventually noticed by a dance crew out of Pennsylvania, House of Gotti, before he moved to Tennessee. After moving, he decided to take dance a little bit further. He went to a Jr. Teacher Workshop Program to become a dance assistant and the dance studio made him the Hip Hop Teacher instead. Since then, he has taught at numerous facilities in Bedford, Rutherford, Coffee, and Franklin Counties. He started doing community theater to build his talent and has choreographed and performed in numerous shows including Hairspray, Addams Family, Peter and The Starcatcher, Rocky Horror Picture Show, All Shook Up, and Gypsy. He is the choreographer of “History Told By Her”, a Michael Jackson tribute, which donates all of the proceeds to a selected charity. He donates his time to many charities and community projects teaching dance and/or performing.
